I had to re-read this. Yes. Thank you for saying their names. If we, the women across the Islamic world unite in a grassroots, native, Islamic and productive way, with the example of our Lady Zaynab (sa) at the forefront of our minds and hearts, we can make huge strides for our future daughters. No white saviors needed. And you, sister, are a spiritual fighter of the first degree. Thank you.

Very moving, as always, Zahra. I appreciate how beautifully you incorporate the authenticity of Islam in this (and all your essays) — a lot of pieces dealing with this issue are purely secular (which is fine, of course), so it's refreshing to read your take. Hopefully one day our daughters will get to see a Pakistan more aligned with the true Sunnah, inshaAllah.

"The most basic study of Islam will lay out clearly how honor-based violence has no textual or Prophetic justification; it is nothing more than a jahiliyyah practice cloaked in divine rhetoric."

Subhanallah. Islam came to reform, and after the death of the Prophet until this day many Muslim societies are in Ghaflaa.

Muslims by inheritance only not heart.

A beautiful and necessary piece, I've taken much from it.

Thank you for writing this Zahra,

May Allah bless you 🤲
